Description
NDT Engineer - Shift- Hertfordshire to £26K + shift allowance
Aerospace structures- metaalic /composites
To carry out Non Destructive Testing (NDT) on satellite and ground support items using various NDT inspection techniques e.g. Ultrasonics, Radiography, Thermography, etc. either by manual application or automatic scanning and report/record results.
To document findings of inspections performed.
This is a ‘hands on’ job covering all projects manufactured at Stevenage and requires a flexible approach to work, sometimes involving unsocial hours either on or off-site.
Be willing to undertake specialist training on and off-site to obtain NDT qualifications
Tasks
To carry out NDT on materials, components, structures and assemblies required for satellite and ground support equipment either manually or by automatic scanning.
Interpret results of inspections and sentence items against appropriate acceptance criteria.
Report results of inspection in appropriate documentation
Develop, devise and document NDT techniques to meet company, national, international and customer requirements.
Liaise with other departments on an ‘as required’ basis.
Work in small team and be prepared to work extended hours, shifts and off-site (UK and overseas) potentially at short notice.
Physically fit with good eyesight and prepared to undergo regular medicals.
Skills
Essential:
Apprenticeship with aerospace experience in relevant discipline. Minimum ONC preferably in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
Knowledge of aerospace materials and methods.
Good communications skills.
