Mission Concepts Engineer Guildford 26-40K
Our client is a world leader in the development of satellites and associated systems. They have a role for a Mission Systems Engineer based in their Guildford office as a result of a very healthy order book!
Responsible For Mission design of space missions including LEO, GEO and interplanetary.
The role will support bid activities, studies and the internal development of new concepts for all types of space missions, working as part of a team to perform mission design in the following areas: New Concepts, Bids, Studies
New Mission Concepts
-Working with Sales team and R&D project teams to develop new mission concepts.
-Performing requirements capture
-Development of concepts covering space, ground and user segment implementation.
-Designing cost engineered solutions
-Performing the required mission analysis to verify integrity of solution.
-Generating a set of required enabling technologies to be developed.
Studies
- Leading studies into future concepts for a wide variety of customers including ESA.
- Management of studies to meet technical requirements, cost and schedule.
-Delivering technical reports and presentations to customers.
Bids
- Working with the Sales and Engineering teams in support of bid activities t
- Bid managing and contributing (both technical and management inputs) to
study bids for a variety of customers including ESA.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications 2.1 or 1st degree or suitable (includes vocational training) equivalent in Engineering, Physics or Maths.
Experience
-Proven Experience of space mission design - covering space and ground.
-Experience of designing space missions starting from end-user
requirements.
-Experience of designing and analysing space and ground segments to the
sub-system level
-Excellent technical writing and presentation (generating and delivering)
skills.
-Good knowledge or awareness of orbit analysis, RF link analysis, system
budgets, operations, ground segment, space environment and satellite
mechanical and electrical architectures.
-Good knowledge of a wide range of satellite applications.
-Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales.
-Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
-Experience of Matlab or equivalent analysis tools.
