Description
Our client is a world leader in the Defence market and they are currently seeking a permanent Principal Production Engineer to join their expanding team located in Edinburgh.
This is a challenging role and is key to the success in implementing the Site Strategy for Operational Excellence. It involves leading and coaching a group of highly skilled production engineers in the application of lean manufacturing: specifically 5S, Pull Systems, Visual management and Key performance Metrics.The role also requires in depth understanding and practical application of Design for Six Sigma Manufacturing.
This will involve the delivery of training courses targeted at IPTs and subsequent management of support to those project groups.The role also involves programme/project specific manufacturing engineering tasks against quality cost & schedule.
The successful candidate will have the following essential skills and competencies:
Proven track record of the application of lean manufacturing principles
Proven track record of DSSM as applied within a product design environment
Practiced in the application of Life Cycle management
Engineering data Management of concessions
Knowledge of Manufacturing Materials Management
Good verbal and audio visual presentation and communication skills
Finally, the candidate must be able to demonstrate a high level of achievement, innovation in their work, and resilience when faced with difficult situations.
