IT Comms news: Nokia Mobile Solutions boss resigns
Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia's Head of Mobile Solutions, tabled his
resignation on Monday. Earlier this year he was charged with
turning around Nokia's under-performing high end handset
offering.
Vanjoki has over 20 years at Nokia under his belt. After his
appointment, he blogged:
“I am committed, perhaps even obsessed, with
getting Nokia back to being number one in high-end devices.
Achieving this will require performance and efforts over and above
the norm."
Shortly afterwards, Nokia reported a 63 per cent drop in Q2
profits, with its problems in the smartphone sector chief among the
culprits for the poor performance.
Now, less than two and a half months after taking on his new
role, it appears it is coming to an end for Vanjoki:
“I felt the time has come to seek new
opportunities in my life,”
he said in a statement released by Nokia.
“At the same time, I am one hundred per cent
committed to doing my best for Nokia until my very last working
day. I am also really looking forward to this year’s Nokia World
and sharing news about exciting new devices and solutions.”
Vanjoki has a six-month notice period.
