IT recruitment: There's IT jobs in them there hills!

I blogged in December about the expected surge in IT jobs in the New Year, and it appears I wasn't wrong (it doesn't happen often, but I am as vulnerable as the next man!).

Recruiter magazine published the results of a survey by eSkills UK this week stating that the number of IT jobs is set to grow nearly five times faster than the UK average. Their report, entitled 'Technology Insights 2011', comments that over half a million new IT telecoms professionals will be required over the next 5 years just to satisfy demand.

On a personal note my division has core representation in Telecommunications, IT & Information Security, Networking & Infrastructure and IT. All of these sub divisions have been proving consistently successful over the past 4 quarters – my point is that we have witnessed a steady rise in demand over those 4 quarters and any New Year spike in demand won't be a solitary spike, but a continuation of the demand for skills we have been experiencing.

To back up my experience of the past year, and expectations of the coming calendar year, eSkills UK is anticipating that the rise in demand will be in 'high value roles, which require sophisticated business and management skills alongside deep technical competence'.

Both my division and I have seen an increase in the skill and track record demands from our clients when looking for new employees - certainly within IT & Information Security, but also Telecommunications, the shift has been back to hiring permanent full time employees and relying less on contractors or associates as was increasingly the norm during the downturn.

So, if you are someone that has come back to work in the new year to the same old issues, the same lack of motivation, and are feeling blue, do give my team a call.
