Infrastructure & Built Env: Hop in, the wastewater's lovely!!

Don't get me wrong, I know that it may not be as glamorous as building space shuttles or as prestigious as being a doctor but working in the wastewater industry does have its benefits. For starters you are working in an industry that is long established, technically demanding, and at the forefront of carbon reduction! “Are you sure?” I hear you say…

Yes I am! The recent Biomethane project at Didcot Sewage Treatment Works, a joint venture between Thames Water, British Gas, and Scotia Gas Networks, is a landmark carbon reduction project that is due to revolutionise the utilisation of waste products.

The project is the latest step in an ongoing initiative by Thames to reduce it's carbon footprint and add to the £15mil a year of energy they already produce. Most of that currently goes into running the assets within Thames' region and this is the first time they will sell the energy produced back to the National Grid.

With an increase in workload and jobs becoming more abundant the future of the UK's water and wastewater industry looks very bright indeed. Many of the clients we speak to on a daily basis have confirmed that the back end of 2010 and onwards should see a very significant rise in this type of groundbreaking project, and as a result job opportunities!

At ARM we are entrenched in the industry and have contacts throughout the various Utility Companies, Consultants, Contractors, and Design and Build companies. We have a wealth of experience of helping both contract and permanent candidates find work and have wide scope of roles available.

So now is a great time to polish that CV, iron a shirt or two, shine your shoes and give us a call whether you are looking to get back into work or looking to progress your career within the sector.
