Why iGaming is an industry favourite for 2011

Well, what a year 2010 was for the iGaming sector.

Despite bleak statistics for many industries in 2010, the iGaming sector has witnessed continued growth, bucking wider recessionary conditions to grow by, wait for it, 12.5% in 2010, according to figures released to iGaming Review by gambling data business H2 Gambling Capital.

Gross revenue generated by the iGaming sector reached a monumental US$29.95bn in 2010, up 12.5% on the figure recorded in 2009. Even with the contribution of the football World Cup removed, the sector still achieved 11.4% growth, representing the resilient performance of the sector amid tough prevailing economic conditions.

The continued growth of the iGaming sector is highlighting the significant opportunities available to organisations operating within it. Substantial growth in this arena is bringing new job opportunities for candidates, as we are currently witnessing at ARM with some fantastic iGaming job opportunities.

Bingo and casino were the star performers among the seven product verticals. Furthermore, the successes of the World Cup underpinned the continued growth of iGaming’s largest sector, sports betting, which recorded year-on-year growth of 10.8% to US$12.06bn. Many land-based companies are now diversifying into the online gaming world and many are identifying the Mobile sphere as a key driver for growth.

With the future continuing to look bright and with increasing regulatory reviews and continued new product development, iGaming is unquestionably going to be a hot industry this year.
