iGaming News: Cyber Criminals Target Online Gambling Sites increasing the need for Fraud Professionals across the sector
Recent reports have shown a dramatic increase in the number of
cyber criminals targeting online gambling sites.

The changes within the European iGaming market, i.e. the shift
towards licensing within online gaming in many jurisdictions, has
resulted in payments playing an instrumental role in player
protection.
As online poker, bingo, sportsbooks and betting sites increase
the number of members and players, cyber criminals are developing
more sophisticated ways to take advantage of legitimate players and
the gambling sites themselves.
Financial fraud such as chargebacks and money laundering are
major issues for gambling operators, not to mention player
collusion and bonus abuse. Additionally, operators have the
responsibility of keeping problem gamblers from re-entering their
sites.
Gambling sites are forced to deal with a wide spectrum of
Internet crimes and other in-game abuses that cost the industry
hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud losses each year.
Many gambling sites have increased efforts to detect suspicious
players, as evidenced by the creation and expansion of fraud
analysis and investigation teams.
This increase in the creation of new departments has resulted in
demand across the board for fraud professionals, but also an
increase in the number of clients looking for bilingual and
trilingual risk and fraud professionals to cater for the new
licensed counties and the already existing large market place.
