Bee a Hero! says ARM
ARM is proud to announce its involvement in the nationwide
“Bee a Hero” campaign.
Bee a Hero was founded in 2007 by a group of friends fearing for
the future of the humble much-loved British bee Apis
mellifera. The campaign is now supported by celebrities
including Ruby BeesWax, Bee-linda Carlisle and Tim Allen-Pollen
(voice of Buzz Lightyear in the renowned Torture-Horror,
“Toys”).
The scheme requires volunteers to adopt and rear a bee from egg
to full adulthood.
“We intend to print bee-sized ARM t-shirts for the
useful pollinators,”
says Marketing Manager Lomax Stilton Sandwich.
Participants in the scheme are sent a single bee’s egg, a bee
nest made out of a sock, some special bee food, a leg tag for
monitoring future movements and a “Bringing Up Bee” helpful
guide.
The bee will take around 10 days to hatch in an airing cupboard
or spare room wardrobe. Once hatched the bee will require feeding
via a pipette for 3 days before it will be able to fly.
Adult bees can “bee” released somewhere appropriate such as a
field, garden, reservoir or animal sanctuary.
Go on – Bee a Hero!
P.S. Happy April. And bees really are
important, so go ahead and Google them to learn more, or speak to
ARM’s real marketing manager, Simon Withers, who is an entomologist
when he has any spare time.
