About the event:
Professional affiliations standards, qualifications, regulation
and certifications now play a regular part of the currency for many
professions. Though the IT industry has been one of the last to go
down this route professional bodies that oversee standards and
grant certifications are now well established. Serving the UK in
particular are the British Computer Society (BCS) and the
Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Both of these
organisations administer the granting of professional
qualifications as well as a host of other professional services on
a local, regional and national level.
Many businesses perceive real value in supporting professional
affiliation to the BCS and IET.
This event provides an opportunity to hear what the IET and BCS
offer to local businesses that are consumers or vendors of IT. In
addition, renowned training supplier Global Knowledge will speak on
the importance of supplementing accreditations with real-life
workplace skills and competencies, through harnessing the latest
technology to create communities of best practice, and ARM IT
Recruitment Director Fran Jones will give an overview of the
industry as he sees it.
This is an informal event with morning coffees and buffet lunch,
and an opportunity to network with other IT users and
representatives of the institutions. It will end with a Q&A
panel comprising the speakers and other representatives of the
institutions.
