ARM and the charities we support

For the financial year 2012/13, ARM is proud to support two charities, which were chosen by all of us within the company. Our charities are close to our hearts, and having a limited number helps us to concentrate our efforts to do the best we can for them.

The work that we do with these charities is based around fundraising but stretches beyond financial donations. We lend our support in other ways: by raising awareness of each charity organisation, by gaining a real understanding of how the charities work and why, and by giving our time, ideas, and some of the ARM passion to these causes that we believe in.

The two charities ARM is proud to support are:

MAMA Academy: www.mamaacademy.com

MAMA Academy is a not-for-profit organisation working towards charitable status. We are delighted to be working alongside The Royal College of Midwives and the midwives side of our site has RCM accreditation.

The aim of MAMA Academy is to equip all expectant mums and healthcare professionals with vital knowledge and education to give every baby the best chance of arriving safely and healthily. We want to help mums have healthy pregnancies and support midwives to aid consistency of maternity care right across the UK.

Our team consists of various mums and healthcare professionals whose passion is to educate to help see the numbers of baby loss decline. If our information can help save just one baby then all our hard work will be worthwhile.

Dogs for the Disabled: www.dogsforthedisabled.org

Dogs for the Disabled is a life-transforming charity, creating exceptional partnerships between people living with disability and specially trained assistance dogs. Through practical assistance a dog can offer freedom and independence to children and adults with physical disabilities and children with autism.

Dogs for the Disabled is a pioneering charity that trains assistance dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities, and families with a child with autism.

Through practical tasks our dogs offer freedom and independence, but in addition an assistance dog becomes a reason to go out, giving a new found confidence that opens doors to fresh opportunities including friendships, hobbies, education and even careers.

The partnerships we create between people with disabilities and dogs are life-changing.

If you’d like to know more about any of the charities, please visit their websites or speak to ARM.

How do we raise our money?

We raise money in various ways in and around the office.

Last year, for our previous two charities, our fundraising included:

  • Dress down days at work
  • Bake sales
  • Christmas wrapping service,
  • Abseiling off the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth
  • The 3 Peaks challenge
  • London to Paris cycle
