ARM and the charities we support
For the financial year 2011/12, ARM is proud to
support two charities, which were chosen by all of us within
the company. Our charities are close to our hearts, and having a
limited number helps us to concentrate our efforts to do the best
we can for them.
The work that we do with these charities is based around
fundraising but stretches beyond financial donations. We lend our
support in other ways: by raising awareness of each charity
organisation, by gaining a real understanding of how the charities
work and why, and by giving our time, ideas, and some of the ARM
passion to these causes that we believe in.
The two charities ARM is proud to support
are:

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected
by cancer, providing practical, medical, emotional and financial
support. We want to be there for everyone with cancer, through all
stages of their cancer journey, regardless of their age, gender,
ethnicity, cancer type or where they live. We are also working
tirelessly to be there for their carers, families and friends.
Working alongside people affected by cancer, Macmillan works to
improve cancer care. One in three of us will get cancer. Two
million of us are living with and beyond cancer. We can all make a
difference.

Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people
aged three to 17 living with life-threatening illnesses.
Make-A-Wish Foundation's vision is that every child with
a life-threatening illness should be able to have a
Make-A-Wish wish. Make-A-Wish has granted more than 7,000 magical
wishes over 25 years. The very first wish was for Anthony from
Liverpool who, with his family, went to meet the Disney characters
in Disney World, Florida.
Make-A-Wish is about passion, expertise, trust and fairness.
Wishes are about magic, hope, smiles and memories.

How do we raise our money?
We are raising money in various ways in
and around the office.
In September 2010, 14 ARM employees completed the New Forest Half Marathon – an event championed
by our IT Divisional Director Fran Jones and supported by all at
ARM.
Less hard on the legs but equally diverting was our Hallowe’en
cake sale, where we were tempted by our Directors and Divisional
Managers selling home-baked wares. That day was a sort of negative
imprint of the half marathon really, with many of us proving that
we can, if tempted, eat our own bodyweight in chocolate
brownies.
Our end of year company ball (october, 2011) saw a hugely
successful raffle, organised by our social committee and HR
Manager, raise hundreds more for our chosen charities. In the
coming months we are looking to organise sponsored outdoor events,
host a quiz night and perhaps indulge in another cake or two!
Here at ARM we are happy and proud to enter into the spirit of
giving, and we do so remembering the ARM “3 Ps” - principles that
we apply to all we do. It’s about professionalism, partnership and
passion.
